Urgent Appointments
Urgent appointments can be made Monday to Friday, on the day:
- by completing the online form as soon as your need arises, anytime of the day during the working hours of 08:00 - 18:30. Your request will be reviewed by a clinically trained professional and if considered to be 'urgent' you will be contacted by text message or phone call to make an appointment either on the day or by the next working day at the latest. You may be guided to urgent care centre, A&E, or Pharmacy First Service as per the clincal need vis-a-vis availability of appointment(s).

Routine Appointments
Routine appointments can be booked online or by telephone 01322 223600 Monday to Friday.
- appointments can be booked with a GP, at least up to 2 weeks in advance, at times a longer time period in advance, based on appointment books avalability
- appointments can be booked with a Nurse or HCA, up to 6 weeks in advance
We aim to respond to all requests within 3 to 5 working days, by phone call or text message. However, in busy times or when waiting lists are long, it can take much longer.
Consultations offered to you may be:
- By phone
- Face to face
- A video call
- Or an advisory via a comprehensive message (sms or email)
Appointments by phone or video call can be more flexible. This often means the doctor or nurse can help you sooner.
Cancellations or Changes of Appointments
If you cannot keep an appointment, please inform us as soon as possible so we can release appointments for other patients who need medical support.
Patients can cancel or change appointments by:
- telephoning the practice, where patients can select an option to leave a voice message and cancel an appointment
Emergencies
Emergencies and serious issues such as severe chest pain, difficulty breathing or severe bleeding, should be directed to the emergency services by calling 999.
Extended Hours Access Appointments
For convenience we may be able to offer you an appointment outside of the practice's standard hours, such as a GP or Physio appointment. The appointment may be offered in the evening, outside of the practice's usual hours between 6.30pm and 8pm, or on a Saturday. Our aim is to offer patients in our area, access to more convenient appointments. Please note, the services we offer within these hours will change through the year to fit patient demand.
Your appointment may not be at Redwood Practice but it will be close by at another location within Dartford. You will be advised of the location of your appointment at the time of your booking.
Online Services
NHS App gives you a simple and secure way to access a range of NHS services, giving access to patients to order repeat prescriptions, book and manage appointments, view their GP health record including test results and much more. Please speak to a member of our reception team who can offer you support with getting registered and accessing the NHS App.

If you need medical help outside of practice hours
- use NHS 111 online (111.nhs.uk) for people aged 5 an over
- call NHS 111
- call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency if you think someone's life is a risk
